A Night at the Opera
Inspired by the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen season, we bring you “A Night at the Opera” with music inspired by the composers and operas showing at our local opera house. Each program will take a look at the current opera season and bring you a Bang-up! Opera look at the music and mind of the composer or opera in question. Bringing together songs, arias, pop culture, and more, these programs promise to surprise even the greatest of opera aficionados. Watch out for these one-of-a-kind recitals, inspired by what we love most, opera!
Faust: Inspired by Berlioz’s ‘La Damnation de Faust’
The devil makes use of idle hands in this Faustian tale of temptation, seduction, insanity, and destruction, told through a mix of Lieder, opera, piano repertoire, and more.
Three lost souls trapped by their own suffering and blind to the one man that can save them. Will the devil make him do it? Find out as Bang-up! Opera offers up their own Faustian tale. All the music on this program is inspired by the classic Goethe tale, and believe us when we tell you, you’ll be surprised!
A Magical Holiday Mozart Jam: Inspired by Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’
Abracadabra! Bob-biddy Boo! Bang-up! Opera presents to YOU… a magical night of Mozart! A Mozart Jam, if you will. Inspired by Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’, we bring you a selection of songs and arias inspired by magic, magical moments, and Mozart’s own magic, of course. Both Lieder and opera take on this magical quest with a bit of twists and surprises to round up the evening. It’s not often you can take part in a Mozart Jam that includes music from Struass’s ‘Der Rosenkavalier’, Bernstein’s ‘Candide’, and so much more. Grab your magic hat and enjoy the carpet ride!
